403 -.• • • _ •_ • . • _ . . <br /> MANACENEN1 AMUYST ATTACHMENT 5 <br /> GKAL SIATEMENT OF DUTIES: Assists the County Manager by performing a variety of <br /> :(1sponsible administrative and research activities; serves as liaison to assigned <br /> interagency and citizen advisory commissions. <br /> DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF TILE employee in this class assists in the planning <br /> and administration of County government by researching and analyzing requests and making <br /> recommendations. Work includes handling special projects, Manager's liaison to interagency <br /> and citizen advisory cOmmissions and providing staff support to the same on an assigned <br /> basis. Work also includes making special studies alone or as a member of a team and pre- <br /> paring mid presenting reports. Judgment, initiative, tact, and courtesy are re4utied. <br /> Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated for effectiveness, in con- <br /> ferences and by review of records and reports. <br /> ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK: <br /> Conducts research into administrative organization and functions; investigates situations; <br /> secures information and considers alternatives; makes recommc:ldations, <br /> Coordinates the preparation of requests and reports by;departmen and agenCies. <br /> Interprets and explains administrative policies , procedures, and decisions. <br /> Coordinates program involving more than one department or County-supported agency. <br /> Functions as the Manager's liaison to interagency and citizen advisory commissions; provides <br /> staff support to assigned agencies/commissions as directed by the Manager. <br /> Answers requests for information; investigates complaints; handles problems or refers to <br /> appropriate agency. <br /> Attends meetings as representative of the County Manager: <br /> e - <br /> Performs related work as needed. <br /> KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: <br /> Considerable knowledge of the organization and functions of County government. <br /> Considerable knowledge of the principles of modern public administration. <br /> Working knowledge of State law and regulations affecting County government, . <br /> Working knowledge of sources of information needed in preparing research reports and <br /> making administrative decisions. <br /> Ability to define objectives, assign priorities, and bring projects to completion. <br /> Ability to assist in the coordination of the efforts of various departments and agencies. <br /> Ability to explain County policies and procedures and to judge effectiveness of them. <br /> Ability to gather, analyze, and evaluate information and to prepare concise and informative <br /> reports. <br /> Ability to deal effectively with officials and citizens.. <br /> Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other 'employees. <br /> DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Completion of college with master's degree in public <br /> administration, political science, or a closely related field, and experience in govern-- <br /> mental work, including experience in making studies and preparing reports; or an.equivalent <br /> combination of education, training and experience. <br /> OCPD B/82 <br /> 4 <br />
