He said that general aviation <br /> airports are considered desirable in most parts of the country and that those <br /> Lirports were surrounded by planned development, "commercial, office, industrial ." <br /> Commissioner Gustaveson: "But did you find one example of this size?" <br /> Mr. Mehler: "Not on the Eastern Seaboard," <br /> Commissioner Gustaveson: Asked if this would be one of the largest private <br /> .irports on the Eastern Seaboard. <br /> Mr. Mehler: Said that he didn't know and had not "investigated" that. <br /> Planning Board Chair Pat Crawford: Asked if there would be any restrictions <br /> regarding access during non business hours, as she noted the loop road. <br /> Mr. Mehler: Replied that Mr. Matthews had first suggested a crossover access <br /> situation and later changed to a loop road. He noted that 99% of those using the <br /> crossover would be pilots and that many general aviation airports use this means <br /> of hangar access' <br /> Ms. Crawford: Asked if access to the aiport would be restricted, assuming that <br /> the airport would not be under constant operation. <br /> Mr. Mehler; Noted that there there several things they had done to make this <br /> operation more feasible: 1) increased the number of planes; 2) "initiated the <br /> possibility of maintenance fees; 3) "and eliminated some things like fencing, that <br /> were originally in the project." <br /> Ms, Crawford: Asked if Mr. Mehler would explain in a little more detail, the <br /> maintenance fees. <br /> Mr. Mehler: Mr. Hazard, he replied, would be the person to ask those questions, <br /> since he had done the calculations on the fees.
