2C,S .597 Township and County-wide Goals Identified by the Bingham Township Advisory Council February 15, 1979 Agricultural Land Water reservoirs Should be kept out of Agricultural areas. Bingham Township should try to retain its agricultural character. Protection and preservation of farming should be given top priority in any land use plan. Growth Agriculture is Bingham Townships main industry and other industry should be discouraged. Commercial and industrial growth that does occur in Bingham Township should be guided to that area of the township closet to Chapel Hill in designated areas. Host commercial and industrial development should occur in Chapel Hill and in other townships that want it. A few high-density growth areas should be identified. High density development in the rest of the township should be discouraged. Housing_ The construction of apartment buildings, low-cost federal housing and trailer parks should be discouragadin Bingham Township. Apartment building construction that does occur should be in designated areas close to Chapel Hill. Construction of residential subdivisions should be guided to areas where land is less suitable for agriculture. The minimum lot size should be larger in agricultural areas of the township. Community Facilities Need an elementary and junior high school in the township. Increase police protection in the township. Greenbox program should be expanded and special provisions made for disposal of bulky items. There is a need for increased fire protection especially in southern Bingham south of State route 54. There is a need to name roads in the County and erect street signs.
