2C,S <br /> .597 <br /> Township and County-wide Goals Identified <br /> by the Bingham Township Advisory Council <br /> February 15, 1979 <br /> Agricultural Land <br /> Water reservoirs Should be kept out of Agricultural areas. <br /> Bingham Township should try to retain its agricultural character. <br /> Protection and preservation of farming should be given top priority <br /> in any land use plan. <br /> Growth <br /> Agriculture is Bingham Townships main industry and other industry <br /> should be discouraged. <br /> Commercial and industrial growth that does occur in Bingham Township <br /> should be guided to that area of the township closet to Chapel Hill in <br /> designated areas. Host commercial and industrial development should occur <br /> in Chapel Hill and in other townships that want it. <br /> A few high-density growth areas should be identified. High density <br /> development in the rest of the township should be discouraged. <br /> Housing_ <br /> The construction of apartment buildings, low-cost federal housing and <br /> trailer parks should be discouragadin Bingham Township. <br /> Apartment building construction that does occur should be in designated <br /> areas close to Chapel Hill. <br /> Construction of residential subdivisions should be guided to areas <br /> where land is less suitable for agriculture. <br /> The minimum lot size should be larger in agricultural areas of the <br /> township. <br /> Community Facilities <br /> Need an elementary and junior high school in the township. <br /> Increase police protection in the township. <br /> Greenbox program should be expanded and special provisions made for <br /> disposal of bulky items. <br /> There is a need for increased fire protection especially in southern <br /> Bingham south of State route 54. <br /> There is a need to name roads in the County and erect street signs. <br />
