members,foundation grant, the Committee was renamed the Employment Committee and a <br /> task force was convened to study and identify needs, <br /> The major activity of the Employment Committee was the conference held <br /> at Frank Porter Graham Center in December <br /> Conclusion <br /> The Commission -"or Women has made an impact on the lives of women in <br /> orange County, It has provided valuable information and services, A very <br /> real need exists for the continued activities of such an advisory body. <br /> 7he Commi,ssion for Women functioned quite effectively from July through <br /> December 1981, Most of the activities and services described above took place <br /> during that period of time, On December 14, Candace Burt announced her resig- <br /> nation as coordinator, effective January 14. At that same time, Susan Waldrop <br /> took a family leave, leaving a � time clerkas the only paid staff, For the <br /> next two months, activities centered around replacing the coordinator and <br /> evaluating the role of the Commission, The new coordinator started work on <br /> Xarch 15 and, under the direction of the County Hanager and Commission <br /> began planning a reorganization of the Commission. <br /> The focus for the remainder of the year has been to recruit new members <br /> and develop short and long range goals.
