ORANGE COLTNTy COMKISS1014 FOR WOMEN <br /> ANNUAL REPORT <br /> Jm 30, 1982 <br /> 1, Introduction <br /> The Orange Count? Commission for Women, created in April 1976, works <br /> as an advisory board to the Orange County Board Of Commissioners to identify <br /> of the potential <br /> Orange County; to promote development the status of women in <br /> of all residents of the county, focusing on women; and to rec ommend appro- <br /> priate action regarding the status of women. <br /> The projects of the Commission for 1981-82 focused on training, out- <br /> reach, monitoring, interagency coordination, and talent bank/job bank <br /> activities„ The annual goals for the Commission were. <br /> 1. Leadership Training; to provide leadership training for Commission <br /> members, and othercitizens serving or wanting to serve on appointed or <br /> elected boards, <br /> 2. Outreach. to participate in publishing newsletters providing valuable <br /> information to selected populations, and to hold workshops and forums <br /> on subjects of interest to women., <br /> 3. Monitoring: to stay informed on local issues affecting women by monitor- <br /> ing meetings of selected boards and commissions and to evaluate the purpose <br /> and effectiveness of monitoring, <br /> 4. Interagency ecordination. to assist other agencies when appropriate <br /> and to identify and bring together organizations serving women,, <br /> S. Talent/Job Bank: to establish a resume file of women needing jobs or <br /> appointments and to serve as a liaison between applicants and employers <br /> or organizations needing qualified individuals. <br /> 11, operations <br /> The Commission office located at 131 Court Street in Hillsborough pro- <br /> vides an adequate and pleasant work environment. It has become a clearing- <br /> house for information on women's issues from the national to local level, <br /> Membership in the Commission has fluctuated this year. In July 1981, <br /> eleven of the fifteen positions were filled and four townships were <br /> repre- <br /> sented. Currently, the Commission has eight active members (roar two town- <br /> ships, Nevertheless, many individuals have made contributions of talent, <br /> time and avergy which resulted in major accomplishments during the 1981-82 <br /> year, <br /> The Commission staff also experienced change this year. Candace 3urt, <br /> half-time coordinator, resigned in January to return to school. Her position <br /> was filled in 4arch by Verla lasko. Susan ,Ialdrop, half-time aecretaj7, took <br /> a family leave from February 13 to June 20. .4, CET, worker, Sharon Lynch, was <br />
