` <br /> [>�� <br /> Orange County Library: Mr. Sandy Davison, Chair of the Orange County <br /> Library Board of Trustees, thanked the Board for past funding and asked that <br /> it continue funding the library in its new facilities. <br /> Ms. Nancy Massey, Hyconeeche Regional Library Director, addressed <br /> the Board and noted that book circulation had increased by 20% whereas <br /> patronage had increased by 30% in its new location on W. Tryon Street. <br /> Ms. Massey noted that a portion of their increased funding request was to <br /> eliminate a disparity between library employees and County employees. The <br /> Manager said he would have recommenddd the increased level had he known of <br /> the disparity. <br /> P <br /> Chapel Hill PUlic Library, Ms, Mary Boone, Direntor, told the Board <br /> the Chapel Hill Library supports the Manager's recommendation on their <br /> budget. <br /> Recreation: Mr. Wayne Weston, Recreation Director, told the Board of <br /> the need for capital funding for recreation in the northern part of the County, <br /> particularly in Cedar Grove. Mr, Vanhook, Nr, Joe Cates, Ms. Lorraine Parker <br /> and an unidentified young woman all supported Mr. Weston's request and noted <br /> the community support for the recreation programs. <br /> Commissioner Willhoit asked the Manager to work some revenue projections <br /> on recreation programs if outdoor lighting were provided' <br /> Data Processing and Word Processing: Mr. Keith Brooks, Data Processing <br /> Director, told the Board the County would be able to add on word processing <br /> capability to its present system for $7,030'O0 to buy a printer which would <br /> print letter quality copies. <br /> Mr. Brooks provided some information regarding the present utilization <br /> and future possibilities of the present system asgwell as financing information <br /> on a new data processing system. There was a consensus on the Board to add the <br /> $74,300,00 to the budget. <br /> Mr. Brooks was thanked for his presentation. <br /> Commissioner Gustaveson moved, seconded by Commissioner Whitted, to <br /> adjourn.
