2 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING THE <br /> ANNUAL COMMUNITY DINNER <br /> WHEREAS, the Annual Community Dinner is an event to build community spirit, <br /> crossing economic, racial, religious and ethnic barriers; and <br /> WHEREAS, the attendees sit side-by-side to experience and enjoy culturally diverse <br /> food and entertainment from the local community; and <br /> WHEREAS, this is the 20th Annual Community Dinner co-chaired by Mildred Council <br /> (Mama Dip) and Nerys Levy, coordinated with a diverse Community <br /> Dinner Committee; and <br /> WHEREAS, the first fiscal agent was Preservation Chapel Hill and for the past 10- <br /> years the event has been held with the support of the Orange County <br /> Department of Housing, Human Rights and Community Development; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Community Dinner received national recognition in 2014 as a winner <br /> of a National League of Cities Award for Cultural Diversity, as <br /> nominated by the Town of Carrboro; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> does hereby recognize the Community Dinner as an exemplary display of <br /> community ideals and a highly appreciated asset for the residents of <br /> Orange County. <br /> This the 4th day of April 2017. <br /> Mark Dorosin, Chair <br /> Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />
