The organization would <br /> be housed in the Chamber of Commerce building and directed by the Executive <br /> Director of the Chamber of Commerce. It is our feeling that this would <br /> cost between $60,000 to $65,000 in required funds to provide office space, <br /> office equipment, transportation, promotional materials, and entertainment <br /> used for prospects as well as the employment of the paid staff which would <br /> cost the county the least amount of money of the three plans. A separate <br /> Board of Directors consisting of a representative from all of the government <br /> units, the Chamber of Commerce, and interested subscribers would be established. <br /> We know Durham County provides funds direct to the Chamber of Commerce for <br /> this purpose. <br /> IV. If none of the above proposals are feasible, the only other <br /> alteimative would be for the Chamber through volunteers to attempt to do <br /> the required jab. This committee probably would principally be interested in <br /> the development of southern Orange County. It would also require the cooperatia <br /> of the local governments to be successful. <br /> We will be sending a coy of the report to each of the local government <br /> ntv Lebject will bo pr:neifi-es; <br /> input to you. <br /> This is an extremely important subject and whatever version of economic <br /> development strategy is decided upon, it must be implemented early in the <br /> 1982,1983 year. <br /> Thank you for your time this morning.
