She is opposed to the rezoning. <br /> Jim Polatty--Planning Director--Told the Boards that the Planning Staff <br /> had recommended the rezoning because the intersection is identified as a com- <br /> mercial activity node one the Land Use Plon, <br /> Steve Ubans--A resident of Hillsborough--suggested that the Planning <br /> Department examine how neighborhood nodes were chosen when this one had such <br /> opposition from the residents. <br /> Carey Pilkey--A resident--Said he had lived in the neighborhood for <br /> fourteen years and the area was too dangerous for another business. <br /> There were no others who wished to spebk either for or against the <br /> rezoning' <br /> c. Willie Wilson Property Rezoning: Mr. Eddie Kirk made the presentation <br /> for the Planning Department (see page for those recommendations). <br /> There was no one who wished to speak in favor of the rezoning; those <br /> who are opposed spoke next. <br /> Harold Bridges--Presented a petition from the property owners in the <br /> neighborhood requesting that the rezoning be denied. They feel that the rezoning <br /> doesn't fit into the Land Use Plan. A copy of that petition is on page <br /> of this book and on permanent file with the proceedings of this meeting. <br /> d. Roy Wilkerson Property—Mr. Eddie Kirk made the presentation for <br /> the Planning Department (see page for a summary). Ms. Crawford asked <br /> that those in favor of the rezoning speak first. <br /> Alois Callemyn--A surveyor--said that Mr. Wilkerson asked that the <br /> entire 6.5 acres be rezoned EC-5 rather than the smaller parcel that Planning <br /> was requeyting. He said it would be a hardship on Mr. Wilkerson if the entire <br /> lot wasn't rezoned. <br /> Jim Polatty--Planning Director--Said that the Planning Department had <br /> overlooked this business when the Land Use Plan and Zoning Ordinance were being <br /> formulated and that during that process, where businesses already existed, the <br /> business was zoned EC-5.
