Because this report was not <br /> made available to the public until the time of this public hearing, the <br /> County Board of Commissioners indicated that the public hearing would be held <br /> over to March 22, 1982 to provide an opportunity to receive comments on this <br /> report. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill would like this letter <br /> to be made a part of the public hearing record as commentingnn this report. <br /> In two locationS in the Conclusions section of the report (Section IX) <br /> there are references to the possibilities for financial assistance from the <br /> University for development of a new community airport and speculation about <br /> the future disposition of the land now occupied by Horace Williams Airport <br /> (Item 4 under Consideration #2 and Item 2 under Consideration #3). <br /> The University has clearly indicated on a number of occasions that financial <br /> support of an alternative airport facility is not viewed as a University <br /> responsibility. The University has no plans to dispose of the Horace Williams <br /> Airport land nor does the University have the financial resources to contribute <br /> to the construction of a new airport.
