THE COUNTY SHOULD SPONSOR IN =JUNCTION WITH <br /> °RASA A RESOURCE=SERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT PROJECT ON CANE CREEK, <br /> UNIVERSITY LAKE, UPPER ENO, NORTH FORK LITTLE RIVER AND SOUTH FORK <br /> LITTLE RIVER WATERSHEDS. <br /> S.J. Friedman inquired about the pollutants cited on page 5-14. Luce <br /> responded that oars were the major source of heavy metal pollutants and <br /> cited the thesis by Bob Forbes. Friedman requested that references be <br /> noted so the source of data and its justification could be traced and evaluated. <br /> Shanklin cited road building as a major source of erosion that was not referenced <br /> Don Cox cited erosion due to farm activity and the variation in erosion <br /> levels relative to certain practices. He added that considering all watersheds <br /> as conservation areas required requesting federal funding for planning and <br /> complementation of structural changes on farms to reduce run off. <br /> The motion passed, with Shanklin opposed, all other for. <br /> Recommendation #17: <br /> Gordon moved approval of the recommendation.
