Planning Board Minutes <br /> September 1, 1981 <br /> Page 3 <br /> Wilson commented that he saw a problem with th:reccueend.m17Iatd.on <br /> in that it proposed to give some of the Lake Orange water to <br /> the Orange-Alamance Water Systems which was pumping it out of <br /> the Ni 'se Basin to mebane, a conflict with reccmmendation <br /> number one. <br /> Wilson asked why the water supply for Hillsborough decreased <br /> with time. Luce replied that it was because of the withdrawals <br /> upstream at Corporation Lake. <br /> Kizer notici,ed approval of the sec re at1orz of the <br /> Water Task Force. Cleary seconded. Motion carried with 4 in <br /> favor, 3 against and Bacon and TATle abstaining. <br /> Recommendation #3 <br /> Water cansezvatien in receiving and withdrawal basins. <br /> Luce described CAS 's water conservaticn plan. He said there <br /> was no emilmr plan in place for northern Orange. <br /> Kizer motioned apprdval of the recommendation. Laszlo seconded. <br /> Approved unanimously. <br /> Receenendaticn 44 <br /> Identification of prime reservoir sites. <br /> Luce described the criteria which were used in selecting the five <br /> prime reservoir sites from among the twenty-nine potential sites <br /> identified in the report. <br /> Kizer questioned why only five sites wexe selected. Irvin noted <br /> that industrial development in and around Hillsborough could <br /> cause a great demand for water in the future. <br /> that in addition sites 17 and 18 in the report an the north and <br /> south forks of the Little River be included as protected sites. <br /> Irvin seconded. <br /> Luce noted that the five sites identified in the Report are <br /> within protected watersheds. The protection of the new <br /> sites would require that aelditicnal areas of the County be <br /> afforded to them as to Cane Creek reservoir for example. <br /> Ayes: Kizer, Gordon, Cleary, Earns, Wilson, Laszlo, Irvin. <br /> 4r !II Nees: None <br /> Abstentions: Lunsferd. <br /> 17k„ <br />
