Luce described the three major basins in Orange County <br /> and the transfers of water which now take place either an a <br /> day-to-day basis or in water emergency situation. He said that <br /> there was concern on the part of some Task Farce monaers that <br /> water transfers from northern Orange to southern Orange could <br /> become more ccmmcn to the detriment of water users in the <br /> Hillsboroueh area. <br /> Dan Cox, a member of the audience, said that during recent <br /> drcughts, the Eno River was very low and Hillsborough did not <br /> have excess water to give to southern Orange County. HO <br /> expressed concern that the emergency line between Hillsborough <br /> and Chapel Hill would be tapped into for day-to-day use. <br /> Wilson expressed ounce= that Alamance County was receiving <br /> northern Orange County water while the policy would deny southern <br /> Orange County the water. <br /> Kizer motioned that the Board of Coamissioners adopt recommenda- <br /> tion number one of the Water Task Force. Wilson seconded. <br /> nation carried with one abstention Gordon. <br /> Becontrerr3atich #2 <br /> Allocation of water from Lake Orange. Luce said that the water <br /> from Lake Orange is owned by the County but not Allocated to <br /> anyone. Luce said that this rezennandation is tied to the first <br /> reaxenemiation in that it says the water in Lake Orange should <br /> stay in the use Basin. <br />
