The HPC is also charged with providing <br /> guidance and a forum for public comments on National Register nominations and <br /> administering the Local Landmark Program as outlined in the Certified Local Government <br /> Program. <br /> What are your Commission's most important accomplishments? <br /> • In 2016, completed a two-year project to update the County's historic resources <br /> inventory, including documentation of African-American resources, agricultural/farm <br /> heritage sites and post-World War II modernist structures. Work included GIS <br /> mapping, digital photography, research and draft written text for the HPC's planned <br /> publication documenting the county's historic properties. The HPC obtained federal <br /> grants totaling $20,000 for this effort from the State Historic Preservation Office, <br /> through the Certified Local Government (CLG) program. <br />
