48
Identify any activities this board/commission expects to carry out in 2017
as they relate to established BOCC goals and priorities.
If applicable, is there a fiscal impact (i.e., funding, staff time, other
resources) associated with these proposed activities (please list).
The Board of Health has an ambitious 2-year strategic plan which has been
attached to this report. With the exception of the FSA work (for which funding
estimates have been detailed at a BOCC meeting), this plan minimally affects the
Health Department's budget.
What are the concerns or emerging issues your board has identified for the
upcoming year that it plans to address, or wishes to bring to the
Commissioners' attention?
The political changes in Washington DC may have negative financial
ramifications for the Health Department. Additionally, if the ACA is repealed, we
may need to provide medical services for more people. This comes at a time
when we are struggling to recruit nursing and other medical provider staff, so it
will be difficult to scale up quickly to address these needs.
