Members also participate in the Master Aging Plan <br /> Steering Committee (annually), monthly participation in Project EngAGE Senior Resource Team <br /> meetings, the Long Term Care Learning Collaborative (4 times per year), the Nursing Home Community <br /> Advisory Committee(monthly) and the Adult Care Home Advisory Committee(monthly). <br /> Brief Statement of Board/Commission's Assigned Charge and Responsibilities. <br /> The Advisory Board on Aging suggests policy and makes recommendations to the Board of <br /> Commissioners and the Department on Aging while acting as the liaison between the older adults of the <br /> County and the County government. It is charged with promoting needed services, programs and <br /> funding that impacts older adults. <br /> What are our Board/Commission's most important accomplishments? <br /> Y p p <br /> Oversight of the Master Aging Plan implementation with board participation in the following <br /> accomplishments (A complete list of MAP accomplishments is attached): <br /> • 41 Project EngAGE graduates working on eight Senior Resource Teams. Highlights of their work <br /> include hosting a Faith and Aging Symposium focused around caregiver support, education and <br /> resources; Aging In Place seminars at the public library; held Death with Dignity panel discussion <br /> at the Friday Center with 400+ attendees; and partnering with SALT (Seniors and Law <br /> Enforcement Together) to expand community visitation program to 200+ older adults on a weekly <br /> basis. <br /> • Aging in Community series held seminars on a wide variety of housing options and fostered <br /> exploration of new options in Orange County, including work with Habitat for Humanity project's <br /> for senior housing in Waterstone. <br /> • Implement of the OC CARES grant to expand services to caregivers and persons with dementia. <br /> • Continued outreach to the older adults in the Latino community through the `social club' model. <br />
