NOTICE OF JOINT PUBLIC HEARING <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ORANGE COUNTY PLANNING BOARD <br />A joint public hearing will be held in the Judge F, Gordon Battle Superior Courtroom of the <br />New Orange County Courthouse, 106 E. Margaret Lane, Hillsborough, North Carolina, on <br />Monday, February 27, 2006, at 7:30 PM for the purpose of giving all interested citizens an <br />opportunity to speak for or against the following items and, with respect to the Special <br />Use Permit item, to present evidence for or against, which evidence will farm the basis far <br />the decision to grant the special use permit or not grant it: <br />A. SPECIAL USE PERMIT, CLASS A (BOCC Public Hearing) <br />1) SUP-A-1-06 Partnership Academy Alternative School for Orange County <br />Board of County Commissioners public hearing on the proposed Partnership <br />Alternative School for Orange County located at the northeast intersection of <br />NC Highway 86 and East Storey Lane directly north of Stanback Middle <br />School. The 20,8 acre tract is zoned Rural Residential (R-1), located in <br />Chapel Hill Township and composed of one parcel identified by the Orange <br />County Land Records Office as Parcel Identification Number 9872-79-0397. <br />The proposed project is broken down into two phases: Phase I includes <br />construction of a 3,600 square foot building and 19 parking spaces with a <br />drop-off area and associated sidewalks, The building will consist of two <br />classrooms, restrooms, and office space, A total of 50 students and five staff <br />members are anticipated to occupy the building, Access to the building will be <br />provided from Storey Lane.. A future building expansion area of 2,900 square <br />feet is also included. Phase II will provide four tennis courts and a softball field <br />as shown on the overall site plan, Phase II improvements are located in close <br />proximity to the existing stadium and parking area for Stanback Middle School. <br />Purpose: The Orange County Zoning Ordinance allows the constnuction of <br />"Schools: Elementary, Middle, and Secondary" in the Rural Residential (R-1) <br />zoning district with the approval of a Class A Special Use Permit by the Board <br />of County Commissioners, This public hearing is set to meet the requirements <br />of public review of school sites and to receive public comments, <br />B.
