• <br /> . • . <br /> 4 <br /> 2. RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONSULTANT <br /> A. Background Information and Analysis <br /> The Consultant will assemble, map, and discuss significance of pertinent information including: <br /> (1)Land Use <br /> -Current zoning,current land use,anticipated land use as presented on the Future Land Use <br /> Map of the 2005 Comprehensive Plan and in the Southwest Durham Plan. <br /> -Parks,schools,historic features,Corps land,and other public facilities and pertinent features. <br /> -Property lines, streets, sewer lines, proposed streets. <br /> • (2) Natural Features • <br /> -Wetlands, rare species, floodplains. <br /> -Durham County and Orange County Inventory Sites. <br /> -Geology, soils, topography. " <br /> B. The Master Plan <br /> The Consultant will identify in the Plan: <br /> (1)Primary Study Area - <br /> -Areas to be protected. <br /> -Protection priority 1-3 for each area to be protected. <br /> -Recommended method of protection for each area <br /> -General acreage and costs of protecting each area <br /> -Recommended future recreation and education sites and uses; provide cost estimates if <br /> possible. <br /> -Basis for recommendations. <br /> (2)Secondary Study Area <br /> -Selected sites may be described as for the Primary Study Area where time permits and <br /> significance of the site warrants recommendation for protection. <br /> C. Presentation of the Plan <br /> The Consultant will submit the Final Plan as camera-ready copy in booklet form. The booklet <br /> will include maps, overlays, and text explaining the Background Information and Analysis and <br /> the Plan and its importance, useable for implementation by staff and for informing the public <br /> about the project. The Consultants will present the Plan to each of the four elected bodies. <br /> 3. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENTS <br /> A. Lead Local Government <br /> For the purposes of this agreement, the Durham City-County Planning Department will serve as <br /> the lead agency in organizing and monitoring the Consultant's work. The responsibilities of the <br /> Durham City-County Planning Department will include mailings to Advisory Committee members, <br /> convening meetings, printing agendas and minutes. Each local government shall provide at its <br /> own expense, base maps and readily-available information needed by the Consultant,in a timely <br /> manner. The local governments shall copy and distribute to the public the draft Plan and final <br /> 2 <br />
