Blythe <br /> Clerk, Orange County Commissioners <br /> 106 East Margaret Lane <br /> Hillsborough, NC 27278 <br /> Dear Mrs. Blythe: <br /> This has reference to your letter to District Engineer <br /> Cowan concerning safety problems at two intersections in <br /> Orange County. <br /> Our Traffic Engineer has investigated both of these <br /> intersections and the following improvements have been <br /> completed. <br /> SR 1506, Caviness Jordan Road, and SR 1508, Hawkins Road <br /> The old existing stop signs on SR 1506 have been <br /> replaced with new 36" oversize signs. Thirty six inch <br /> oversize stop ahead signs have been installed on SR 1506 on <br /> both approaches. The right of way has been cleared back of <br /> the ditch in the north west corner to improve sight distance. <br /> NC 86 at SR 1354, McDade Store Road/SR 1504, Hurdle <br /> Mills Road <br /> The old existing stop signs on SR 1504 and SR 1354 have <br /> been replaced with new 36" oversize signs. The stop sign on <br /> SR 1354 was relocated close to the edge of pavement for <br /> better visibility. The center line of SR 1354 has been <br /> realigned to bring the approach angle of the stopped vehicle <br /> close to a 90 degree angle.
