SOIL SCIENTIST <br /> DATE: JULY 26, 1989 • <br /> RE: SOIL EVALUATION AND DESCRIPTION, CHAPEL HILL TOWNSHIP, <br /> TAX MAP 115, PORTION OF LOT 24, MCLENNANS FARM BID <br /> As per your request an evaluation Of the area previously designated <br /> by Mr. Steve Steinbeck as suitable for ground absorption sewage <br /> disposal was conducted. Two detailed descriptions were made from <br /> selected areas on the site and other borings were made to verify <br /> consistency of the area. <br /> Typically the site is as follows; <br /> - The surface layer is strong brown silt loam with some pockets <br /> of red clay loam in areas where farming has mixed some subsoil <br /> with the topsoil, depth ranges from 6-11 inches. Structure <br /> 1 is weak medium granular and weak fine subangular blocky <br /> (eroded areas and areas mixed with subsoil) . This layer <br /> is friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic. <br /> - The subsoil is yellowish red and strong brown clay and silty <br /> clay with mottles of red; these layers range in depth from <br /> 15-22 inches, have moderate medium subangular blocky structure, <br /> are firm, sticky and plastic. <br /> - Below the upper subsoil layers are transitional layers of <br /> clay loam and silty clay loam with the same colors as above. <br /> These layers have weak medium subangular blocky to massive <br /> structure and generally have brownish yellow saprolite mixed <br /> with the soil. <br /> - Below the lower subsoil layers is saprolite. <br /> Based on the topography of the property (slopes 2-4 percent) and <br /> scil characteristics the site is rated suitable for use with a low- <br /> SOUTHERN ORANGE OFFICE: Carr Mal man.
