3
PROPOSED ORDINANCE AMENDMENT
ORDINANCE: Zoning Ordinance
REFERENCE; Article 12 - Landscaping and Screening
Requirements
ORIGIN OF AMENDMENT: X Staff Planning Board
BOCC Public
Other:
STAFF PRIORITY RECOMMENDATION: X High Middle Low
Comment: Major Amendment
EXPECTED PUBLIC BEARING DATE: May 22, 1989
PURPOSE OF AMENDMENT: To revise Article 12 of the Zoning
Ordinance in an effort to be consistent
with the landscape requirements in the
Subdivision Regulations.
IMPACTS/ISSUES: Development activity in Orange County has
increased annually, especially in the last
several years. Landscape regulations apply
to all new development, including subdivi-
sions, planned developments, and individual
site construction (with the exception of
single family dwellings on existing lots) .
As a result, the Planning Staff as well as
local developers have cited the need for
consistency between the landscape and buffer
requirements specified in the Subdivision
Regulations and the landscape standards set
forth in Article 12 of the Zoning Ordinance.
By developing a set of landscape and buffer
regulations that can be incorporated into
each ordinance, the Planning Staff seeks to
facilitate compliance as well as
enforcement.
Section IV-B-8 of the Subdivision Regula-
tions was amended last fall to include
certain provisions from Article 12 of the
Zoning Ordinance. The amendments currently
proposed will, make the landscape require-
ments in the two ordinances essentially the
same. Portions of Section IV-B-8 regarding
tree protection and land use buffers will be
added to Article 12 as well as a required
minimum number of trees per lot for which
site plan approval has been requested.
Ob.
