These issues will include the financing <br /> of the system, medical protocols and procedures, capital equipment <br /> needs, standard operating procedures, growth projections and training <br /> standards. The Council will make recommendations to the Board on <br /> these and other issues. <br /> BACKGROUND: The EMS Council has been inactive for sometime. The <br /> composition of the Council includes officials of County and Municipal <br /> Governments, the sponsor hospital, County EMS, both Volunteer Rescue <br /> and citizens at large. Letters have been mailed to all the <br /> represented agencies expressing a desire to reactivate the Council . <br /> Response has been received from Chapel Hill, the two Rescue Squads, <br /> the County EMS and Orange-Durham Medical Society. A follow-up, letter <br /> has been mailed to Hillsborough, Carrboro, and North Carolina <br /> Memorial Hospital regarding their appointments. The other <br /> appointments will be brought to the Board for confirmation in August. <br /> The staff will be scheduling a meeting of the Council as soon as <br /> possible to begin addressing the issues indicated above. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : To affirm the appointments of the following: <br /> Dr. James Harper - Durham-Orange Medical Society <br /> Doug Noell - Orange County Rescue Squad <br /> Ray deFriess - South Orange Rescue Squad <br /> Jeanette Smith - Orange County EMS <br /> Joseph A. Herzenberg - Chapel Hill Councilman <br /> R. D. Smith - Chapel Hill Citizen <br /> To appoint a member of the Board to represent Orange County <br /> Commissioners. <br /> - - <br />
