Smith <br /> Manager PROPOSED BOUNDARY TAX RESOLUTION Mapping Supervisor <br /> WHEREAS, Orange and Chatham counties ' Boards of Commissioners <br /> have agreed to establish a new boundary line between them; and, <br /> WHEREAS, each County wishes to make the impact of that new line <br /> on boundary property owners minimal; and, <br /> WHEREAS, there appear to be properties that were taxed according <br /> to agreements between the Tax Assessors of each County, because <br /> it was difficult to determine on inaccurate or nonexistant tax <br /> maps where residences were located; and,. <br /> WHEREAS, the Tax Assessors allocated border properties for tax <br /> purposes based on a "historical" understanding; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the property owners of said properties have become use <br /> to paying taxes in one County, and receiving that County's services; <br /> and, <br /> WHEREAS, the new boundary line will "move" said properties ' <br /> residency from the County they are currently being taxed to <br /> the other County; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the 1963 tax maps of Orange County also indicated said <br /> properties were located in the County that was not taxing them; . <br /> • <br /> and, <br /> WHEREAS,both County's Boards of Commissioners desire for. said <br /> property owners not to experience a negative disruption of <br /> expected services; <br /> 208 South Cameron Street • Hillsborough, North Carolina 27278 <br /> Telephones: 919 732-8181 • 919 967-9251 •919 688-7331 • 919 227-2031 <br />
