9 <br /> • <br /> • <br /> Purpose of Proposal <br /> • <br /> • The purpose of this proposal is to describe the manner in <br /> which a Joint publio/private effort should be undertaken. to <br /> intelligently plan both the development and the preservation of <br /> the New Hope Creek corridor. We propose a structured approach to <br /> the evaluation of the landscapes which comprise the corridor. <br /> We also propose a method to involve the numerous public, quasi- <br /> public, and private entities in the process of devising a master <br /> plan for its conservation, development and management. Finally <br /> we describe a method to disseminate information concerning the • <br /> • <br /> New Hope Creek corridor and its plan to the public through the <br /> use of printed and electronic (videotape) media. <br /> To build upon past work. the Master Plan will be guided <br /> by the initiatives taken by The Orange BOCC. Mayor Howe, Mayor <br /> Gulley, the Durham City Council and Durham Board of County <br /> Commissioners, the, Triangle Land Conservancy, and the Durham <br /> County Inventory of Natural and. Cultural Resources. In context <br /> of current work, the consultant will work with the Orange County <br /> Planning Department as its client, to assist carrying out key <br /> components of its plan to implement the Goal and Objectives <br /> associated with the "Resolution to Preserve a Corridor of Open <br /> Space Connecting .New Hope Creek with the Eno River through Orange <br /> and Durham Counties. " <br /> We believe that, as a professional landscape architecture and <br /> land planning team, we can bring to this project a unique <br /> viewpoint and methodology to achieve the goal and objectives as <br /> outlined by the planning department.
