42 <br /> COVER <br /> Change to reflect name change and possibly change in graphics. <br /> TABLE OF CONTENTS <br /> Changes as applicable in page numbers. <br /> PREFACE <br /> No changes are proposed to this section. <br /> SECTION 1.1 . . .ORANGE COUNTY LAND USE PLANNING PROCESS <br /> The only changes would occur at end of section, with added <br /> paragraphs charting course of changes in plan since 1979, <br /> including name change and Township component updates. <br /> SECTION 2.O. . .COUNTY-WIDE PLAN • <br /> SECTION 2.1. . .PURPOSE <br /> Changes would be made to reflect addition of Transportation <br /> Element, and its interrelatedness with the Land Use Element. <br /> SECTION 2.2. . .NATURAL ENVIRONMENT <br /> Proposed changes to this section are numerous, and deal primarily <br /> with natural systems, private and public responsibility of <br /> protecting the environment, multiplier effects of development, <br /> references to the now-completed Cane Creek Reservoir, and <br /> deletion or rewriting of subsection regarding UNIQUE CULTURAL AND <br /> NATURAL FEATURES to reflect more recent documents and sites. <br /> SECTION 2.3. . .WATER RESOURCES <br /> Again, this section also has substantial changes proposed. <br /> Reference would be made to new data on the county's population <br /> growth and also to Orange's County's situation as a "headwaters <br /> county" , with limited water resources. This section would be <br /> further amended to add data on Cane Creek reservoir (its <br /> completion and new data on supply and demand) . Paragraphs are <br /> also added to reflect the interconnecting pipelines that now <br /> exist, and updates the Town of Hillsborough subsection to <br /> reference new data of service area and population, as well as new <br /> water supply sources and recent decisions regarding reservoir <br /> sites. <br /> The subsection on Orange-Alamance Water Systems would also be <br /> updated in a similar manner. Further mention would be added on <br /> the potential use of Jordan Lake as a water supply source, and <br /> allocations made by the state for this source. <br /> Other changes would find paragraphs on health hazards, watershed <br /> designations, and substantial addition (3.5 pages) updating the <br /> 2 <br />
