39
ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT
Meeting Date: May 22, 1989
Action Agenda
Item #1)-2-b
SUBJECT: LUP-8-89 TEXT AMENDMENTS TO LAND USE ELEMENT
DEPARTMENT: Planning PUBLIC HEARING: _X_Yes No
ATTACHMENT(S) : INFORMATION CONTACT:
David Stancil - Extension 566
- Executive Summary of proposed
text amendments
- Proposed Text Changes TELEPHONE NUMBERS:
(Separate enclosure) Hillsborough - 732-8181
Durham - 688-7331
Mebane - 227-2031
Chapel Hill - 967-9251
PURPOSE: To receive public comment on proposed text amendments
to the Land Use Element of the Comprehensive Plan.
BACKGROUND: The Land Use Element of the Comprehensive Plan was
adopted by the Orange County Board of Commissioners on
September 2, 1981. Since that time, a number of
amendments have been approved to both the Land Use
Plan Maps and the text of the individual Township
Components of the Land Use Element.
However, a number of sections in the document dealing
with the County as a whole have not been updated
during the past eight years. This amendment is geared
specifically to rectify this situation. The updates to
the text proposed by staff do not deal with policy or
procedural changes.
Specifically, the sections of the Land Use Element
that this amendment would update are as follows:
Section 2.0, County-Wide Profile. This section
contains subsections dealing with issues such as
natural environment, water resources, and population
projections that have changed considerably since the
1981 writing.
Section 3.0-3.5, Land Use Plan. Only those
sections that are in need of revision due to changed
conditions will be dealt with here.
