The <br /> County is located in the more rapidly expanding area of North <br /> Carolina known as the Piedmont Crescent. More signficantly, Orange <br /> attraction,otheeResearrch Triangle Park. of great <br /> The six-county region known as the Triangle has evolved during the <br /> 1980's into one of the nation's fastest-growing regions. The <br /> Triangle area is currently the 'region in8t�.e state, <br /> and has increased in population <br /> contrast, the state of North Carolina has seen a 9.0% increeaase in <br /> the same time frame, and the United States has grown <br /> Orange County, as part of this region, has experienced a dramatic <br /> increase in population aution the almostfew <br /> doubled indecades.sizetfrom 426970 <br /> and 1980 the County's p p ula <br /> persons in 1960 to 77,055 persons in 1980.
