•
ti f
• 28
Mr. Marvin Collins, Planning Director
April 7, 1989
Page 2
wood trees where cornfields once grew is living evidence the land
has not been farmed for more than 60 years-, the age of the trees.
While none of it has ever been "managed" forest land, between 30
and 50 yearn ago there was some harvesting of pine in such a way
as to. facilitate maturing of the remaining hardwoods and add to
the natural beauty of the area as potential building sites.
•
In reference to "population density," while more of the pri..
mart' amendment property is in Eno Township, both parcels of sub-
ject land are .in Chapel Hill Township. I understand Chapel Hill
Township has experienced a population growth of 3.05% per year
since 1970, or a- 57.95% increase to the current total of 66,?40.
With the opening of 1-40 it seems reasonable to expect population
growth in the neighborhood to increase at a faster rate. Con-
cerning "new sub-divisions within a two-mile radius," the subject
land lies between the Strayhorn Hills and Windy Hill Farm develop-
ments.
At the Public Meeting on February 27 of this year, Mr« Collins,
you suggested the railroad spur line to the East of subject property
as.- an appropriate boundary for extending the Transition Area; and,
•
indeed that line does coincide with the boundary for the Hillsborough
Utility Service Area-. Based on all of the foregoing, therefore, I
respectfully request that the subject property be included in the
current reclassification to the Transition Area..
I thank you, and each person who will be considering this re-
quest, for your time and attention to this matter.
• Yours sincerely,
• • ef:07.„„_,,v___„—•
Philip D.
