The Department of Animal Control has <br /> issued two (2) Class II kennel permits in the zoned portion <br /> • of the County which involve breeding. Kennels which involve <br /> boarding would become non-conforming, and only future <br /> boarding kennels would require permit approval. <br /> Provision for Wildlife Rehabilitation <br /> It is also proposed that the kennel provisions be expanded to <br /> allow for rehabilitation of wildlife. This portion of the <br /> amendment was requested by the Animal Protection Society. <br /> The Society has submitted plans for an animal shelter which <br /> includes facilities for rehabilitation of birds of prey and <br /> other wildlife, and holding pens and corrals for stray <br /> animals such as cows and horses. The existing kennel <br /> definition refers to domestic pets only. <br /> The portions of the attached amendment which relate to this <br /> request are item c) under definition of Kennel (Class II) , <br /> and Section 8.8.11.3c Other Requirements. <br /> • <br /> Item c) adds rehabilitation of more than 5 animals as an <br /> activity which would be classified as a Class II Kennel. <br /> Section 8.8.11.30 Requires that permits required by the <br /> U.S. Department of Agriculture, or Wildlife Resources <br /> Commission be maintained in order for the Special Use <br /> Permit to remain valid.
