Whitted Human Services Building <br /> EXISTING NAME OF THE BUILDING: Central Human Services Building <br /> OTHER PRIVATE OR COUNTY BUILDING BEARING THE PROPOSED NAME: None <br /> DESCRIPTION OF BUILDING FOR WHICH THE NAME IS PROPOSED: The existing <br /> building houses the following County departments and agencies: Social <br /> Services, Health, Aging, Housing and Community Development, <br /> Recreation and Parks, Orange-Person-Chatham Mental Health and the <br /> Orange County Library. <br /> DESCRIPTION OF INDIVIDUAL'S CONTRIBUTION TO THE COMMUNITY: <br /> Served 12 years on the Orange County Board of Commis-sioners <br /> Served 7 years as Chair of the Board of Commissioners. <br /> Named Outstanding County Commissioner of the Year in 1982 by the <br /> North Carolina Association of County Commissioners -. <br /> While Mr. Whitted served as Chair of the Board of Commissioners many <br /> developments occurred. Some of the accomplishments are listed below: <br /> - Relocation of County Library into Central Human <br /> Services Complex <br /> - Co-location of Human Services Departments into <br /> Central Human Services Complex <br /> - Establishment of the County Health Department <br /> (formerly a regional agency) <br /> - Expansion of Orange-Person-Chatham Mental Health Services <br /> - Creation of the County Community Development Program and <br /> Activities <br /> - Establishment of County Personnel Department <br /> Mr. Whitted served on many County and Regional Advisory Boards.
