List anticipated <br /> starting and completion dates as well as other major dates that the <br /> Commission should be aware of. <br /> The Saturday School offers two eight week semesters, one each <br /> fall and one each winter. The fall semester begins in early <br /> October and ends in early December. The winter semester <br /> beings at the end of January and ends in mid-March. Each <br /> Saturday morning, during each semester, all classes meet from <br /> 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. In addition, there is mid- <br /> morning coffee break. <br /> 4. How will this project benefit visitors and/or residents of Chapel <br /> Hill? <br /> The benefits of this program include: <br /> 1. Improvement of the quality of life for older citizens. <br /> 2. Enhancement of the overall wellness of senior citizens by <br /> providing cultural and intellectual stimulation and <br /> social interaction. <br /> 3. Motivation for senior citizens to remain active, vital, <br /> and participating members of the community. <br /> 4. Classes are designed specifically to meet the needs of <br /> the older learners. <br /> 5. How will this project promote Chapel Hill as a desirable place to <br /> visit or in which to live. • <br /> Chapel Hill is already regarded as a very attractive <br /> retirement community. The Saturday School contributes <br /> greatly to that evaluation by offering a variety of courses <br /> which appeal to a wide range of personal interests. The <br /> _purpose of the, program is to enrich the lives of the senior <br /> citizen population of Chapel Hill: to provide high-quality <br /> programs at a low cost, to meet the demands, interests, and <br /> needs of this population, and to offer an opportunity to <br /> develop friendships among participants. All these factors' <br /> contribute to the promotion of Chapel Hill as a desirable <br /> place to live. <br />
