Commissioners many times I suggested that Orange County was living bekland <br /> . , <br /> its means and that in the future the young folks, old folks and those less <br /> fortunate would have to move out of Ohange County due to their inability <br /> to pay their property tax, thus leaving Grange County a place for the wa <br /> wealthy. Your proposal to levyAmpatt fees confirms that my thinking may <br /> become a reality. Affordable housing is one of Orange County's biggest problems. <br /> In today's Chapel Hill Herald it is stated that Orange County has had a 62% <br /> increase in homeless people during the past year. Another tax on a place <br /> for these and others to live kills any chance they might have had Lp have <br /> a roof over their heads. <br /> Nal Mart has stated that if impact fees were in effect they would not have <br /> coma to Orange County. Lane Kendig, your Chicago consultant for your Rural <br /> Character Study states that impact fees are inappropriate in Orange County. <br /> In surrnary, I would Suggest that instead of impact fees being in the best <br /> intent of Orange County, such fees would in my opinion be in our worse interest, <br /> as affordable housing would not exist.
