GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF NORTH CAROLINA SESSION 1989 <br /> • 9 <br /> 1 ( 4 ) One member of the Board of Transportation appointed <br /> 2 by the Secretary of Transportation, to serve as an <br /> 3 ex-officio non-voting member. <br /> 4 (b) Voting members of the Board_ of Trustees shall serve for <br /> 5 terms of four years, provided that one-half of the initial <br /> 6 appointments shall be for two- ear terms, to be determined b lot <br /> 7 at the first meeting of the Board of Trustees. Initial terms of <br /> 8 office shall commence upon approval by the Secretary of State of <br /> 9 the articles of incorporation. The member appointed by the <br /> 10 Secretary of Transportation shall serve at his pleasure . <br /> 11 ( c) Each votinc member of the Board of Trustees must hold <br /> 12 elective ioublic office, as defined by G.S. 128-1 . 1(d) . An <br /> 13 appointing authority may appoint one of its members to the Board <br /> 14 of Trustees. Service on the Board of Trustees may be in addition <br /> 15 to an other office which a person is entitled to hold. <br /> 16 (d) Members of the Board of Trustees shall reside within the <br /> 17 territorial jurisdiction of the Authority as defined by G.S. <br /> 18 160A-604 . <br /> 19 (e) The Board of • Trustees shall annually elect from its <br /> 20 membership a .Chairperson, and a Vice-Chairperson, and shall <br /> 21 annually elect a Secretary, and a Treasurer. <br /> 22 ( f) Members of the Board of Trustees shall receive the sum of <br /> 23 fift dollars ($50.00) as compensation for attendance at each <br /> 24 duly conducted meeting of the Authority. <br /> 25 "S 160A-606. Voting; removal. <br /> 26 (a) Six members of the Board of Trustees shall constitute a <br /> 27 quorum for the transaction of business. Other than the non- <br /> 28 voting ex-officio member, each member shall have one vote . <br /> 29 . (b) _ Each member of the Board of Trustees may be removed with <br /> 30 or without cause by the appointer(s) . If the appointment was <br /> 31 made jointly by two boards, the removal must be concurred in by <br /> 32 both. <br /> 33 (c) Appointments to fill vacancies shall be made for the <br /> 34 remainder of the unexpired term by the respective appointer( s) <br /> 35 charged with the responsibility for making such appointments <br /> Page 6 89-LBX-006C(2.17) <br />
