Operating Standards <br /> The model school should be operated in a fashion that assures a quality education for all <br /> students and an appropriate level of challenge,support, and protection for the faculty and <br /> staff. High standards in the following areas must be established and maintained: <br /> CI An academic curriculum and instructional program which meet state and <br /> local standards. <br /> Cl Solid and clear accountability measures in the area of student <br /> achievement. <br /> U An effective climate for teaching and learning. <br /> C1 Active parental involvement representing all facets of the student <br /> population. <br /> CD Enlightened community expectations and support. <br /> U Adherence to basic laws, policies and regulations in place to assure legal, <br /> civil and human rights to both students and staff. <br /> V. Show and Tell Capacity <br /> Planning activity should include a design to assure appropriate services to the region and <br /> to the state as relates to the benefits derived from this effort. The following steps should <br /> be taken: <br /> C! Establish the special capacity to receive visiting educators and elected <br /> officials to observe the school's programs in action and learn of the <br /> benefits of fully applied technology and a restructured school. <br /> Cl Establish a formal research component to analyze and construct the <br /> findings of the school's effort. Regular reports should be issued to all <br /> LEAs throughout the region and other locations to demonstrate the <br /> benefits coming out of the project. <br /> U Official periodic updates should be given to the State Board of Education, <br /> the Department of Public Instruction and appropriate committees of the <br /> General Assembly to publicize project outcomes and review the potential <br /> for broader application. <br />
