Conduct education forums for local citizens, <br /> homebuilders, realtors, financial institutions and other <br /> interested organizations to provide information <br /> pertaining to Title VIII Fair Housing Laws, the State <br /> Fair Housing Act and the local procedure for filing <br /> complaints under these laws. This would be accomplished <br /> by conducting two seperate forums. <br /> The first forum would be targeted to industry providers, <br /> • i .e. realtors, financial institutions, and homebuilders. <br /> Co-sponsorship will be sought from the local Board of <br /> Realtors, the local Homebuilders Association and the <br /> Orange County Human Relations Commission. The second <br /> forum would address the general public with special <br /> emphasis on the low/moderate income population. The <br /> County Housing and Community Development Department and <br /> the Orange County Human Relations Commission would <br /> sponsor this activity. <br /> Both education forums will be coordinated with the N.C. <br /> Human Relations Commission. <br /> 2. During these forums and immediately thereafter brochures • <br /> titled "Fair Housing is the Law in North Carolina" will <br /> be distributed to all forum participants and Community <br /> Development project area residents. Brochures and <br /> posters will also be distributed to the local Community <br /> Action Agency, all County human service departments and <br /> all County non-profit social service organizations. <br /> 3. Publish public service announcements in newspapers <br /> serving the County as well as local cable And radio <br /> stations. These announcements will include general fair <br /> housing information as well as list the Housing and <br /> Community Development Department as the contact agency <br /> for more information or to file a complaint. (This would <br /> be on-going throughout the life of the CDBG program. ) <br /> OCTOBER - DECEMBER 1989 <br /> 1 . Assess knowledge of the public of Fair Housing laws by <br /> administering a limited survey among the County <br /> residents. <br /> 2. Assist the Orange County Human Relations Commission in <br /> the preparation of an Ordinance to include protection <br /> against housing discrimination for adoption by the Board <br /> of Commissioners. <br />
