Fikes <br /> Further Fair Housing <br /> TELEPHONE NUMBER- <br /> Hillsborough - 732-8181 <br /> Chapel Hill - 968-4501 <br /> Mebane - 227-2031 <br /> Durham - 688-7331 <br /> PURPOSE: To approve the CDBG Recipient 's Plan to Further Fair <br /> Housing. <br /> BACKGROUND: All recipients of CDBG funds in 1988 are required to <br /> comply with Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 <br /> amended by the Housing and Community Development Act <br /> of 1974 and 1983 which provides for fair housing <br /> throughout the United States. Prior to receiving CDBG <br /> funds localities must certify that they will implement <br /> activities that will affirmatively further fair <br /> housing. Additionally, grantees must be in compliance <br /> with the "State Fair Housing Act . " <br /> The attached Plan has been drafted in consultation <br /> with the appropriate legislative regulations as well <br /> as the Orange County Human Relations Commission and the <br /> State Human Relations Commission. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : Approve the "Recipient ' s Plan to Further Fair Housing" <br /> and authorize the Chair to sign on behalf of the <br /> Board. <br /> • <br /> • <br /> • <br />
