• <br /> EXHIBIT A <br /> SCOPE OF ENGINEER'S SERVICES <br /> (Al) The Engineer shall provide the services listed below in connection with the <br /> Project <br /> Phase I of Study <br /> Task 1 - County-Specific Road Classification System, <br /> The Engineer will provide direction and assistance to County staff in collecting <br /> and entering data on the County's primary and secondary road system, and then <br /> will classify the road segments based on such criteria as roadway geometry <br /> � <br /> (width, horizontal and vertical alignment), existing and projected traffic volumes, <br /> existing and projected adjacent land use, setbacks, and special features. This <br /> task will be reviewed with County staff and will be coordinated with the <br /> County's Rural Character Study. The Engineer will coordinate the preparation <br /> and refinement of the County thoroughfare plan with State and local planners, <br /> and will strive to maintain consistency at boundaries with the Durham-Chapel <br /> Hill-Carrboro urban area, which is not included in this scope. No traffic <br /> modeling is included in this task. <br /> Task 2 - Collector/Subcollectar Road System <br /> The Engineer will refine the County-specific road classification to define <br /> collector and subcollector streets. These will be designated to provide access <br /> and continuity of streets where appropriate throughout the County. <br /> Task - Private Road Standards and Policy <br /> Private road standards and policy will be reviewed and recommendations made. <br /> Task 4 - Review Article 13 <br /> The Engineer will review the County's proposed traffic impact study ordinance <br /> (Article 13) and make recommendations, as appropriate. <br /> Task 5 - Phase I Report <br /> The Engineer will prepare a report summarizing the result of Phase I Tasks. <br /> • This report will be reviewed with the Transportation Advisory Subcommittee <br /> prior to preparation of up to 10 copies in final form. <br /> Phase II of Study <br /> Task 6 - Review Transportation Plan Elements• <br /> The Engineer will assemble reports on secondary roads, mass transit, bikeways, <br /> pedestrian facilities, airports, and rail facilities prepared by others (County staff <br /> and other consultants), review them for technical accuracy and consistency, and <br /> prepare a single comprehensive transportation plan document. <br /> CD-111 (01/88) 11 <br />
