<br /> 5 Motion was made by Commissioner Carey, seconded by Commissioner Halkiotis to
<br /> 6 approve the amendments as presented at public hearing and recommended by the Planning
<br /> 7 Board and the Administration.

<br /> 10 2 RURAL CHARACTER STUDY COMMITTEE - APPOINTMENTS .
<br /> 11 John Link made the following recommendation:
<br /> 12 1) that the total number of committee members be 23 and that all staff be
<br /> 13- removed from full membership and serve as ex-officio members.
<br /> 14 % (2) that David Swanson be appointed to the committee as a Chapel Hill
<br /> 15 representative.
<br /> 16 (3) that William Dow be appointed as a Chatham County representative. .-
<br /> 17 (4) that a member of the Board of Commissioners be appointed as a liaison
<br /> 18 member who would keep the Board up-to-date on the efforts of the committee and that
<br /> 19 each Board member attend as many meetings as possible. .
<br /> 20 (5) that the Board of Commissioners be provided with minutes of Committee
<br /> 21 meetings and that a monthly status report be given to the Commissioners each month by
<br /> 22 the Committee Chair or his designated representative.
<br /> 23 _ The Board will need to make some decisions as the process proceeds.
<br /> 24 • . • Marvin Collins outlined the role of the committee. The main role will be .
<br /> 25 .... .that the committee will be a liaison between the consultant and the staff and the
<br /> 26- • - citizens of the County. One of the goals is to be the 'bridge between the efforts
<br /> 2/ - - that are being made in terms of the technical aspects of the study and conveying that
<br /> . information to the public - trying to get the public involved and taking information
<br /> .
