The use of alternative wastewater treatment systems <br /> as a means of sewage disposal will be permitted <br /> consistent with local, State, and Federal laws and <br /> regulations only in the following situations: <br /> a. On land unsuitable for conventional on- <br /> site sewage disposal systems and which is <br /> not served by public sewer; or <br /> b. On land suitable for conventional on-site <br /> sewage disposal systems and which is not <br /> served by public sewer but where, through the <br /> clustering of dwelling units, open space is <br /> preserved for providing recreation areas <br /> and/or for scenic, environmental and <br /> agricultural protection purposes. <br /> In the case of new development, such systems will <br /> be permitted only after the approval of a Special <br /> Use Permit for property located in a zoned <br /> township or a Preliminary Subdivision Plat for <br /> property located in an unzoned township. <br /> 4.
