Timetable: <br /> December 8, 1988 EDC received Report and Recommendations from Citizens <br /> Committee <br /> December 10, 1988 Presentation by Sylvia Price to BOCC at Retreat <br /> January 9, 1989 EDC Held first Work Session to produce "implementation <br /> strategy" <br /> January - February Several EDC break-out groups held separate meetings on <br /> specific topics <br /> February 9, 1989 EDC reviewed draft of "implementation strategy" <br /> February 23, 1989 EDC will continue review, intends to adopt the <br /> implementation strategy <br /> March 8, 1989 EDC will bring the EDC Strategic Plan before the <br /> BOCC for approval. Budget requirements will be <br /> addressed through the budget process. <br /> 2. Steps Taken Already Toward Implementation: <br /> - Meetings with implementors - begun and continuing <br /> - Preliminary request letters to staff of key implementors, to be followed by <br /> formal requests to each organization after the strategy is approved <br /> - April 3 - Presentation is scheduled at NC Department of Commerce <br /> 3. Three major items. The EDC will be making early statements or requests to <br /> the BOCC about the following: <br /> - Strong support for the concept of the proposed county airport, and for <br /> locating economic development activity adjacent to the airport. <br /> - Training space is needed for all ages. The EDC will request that space <br /> for training adults be provided in new or renovated County buildings: <br /> Southern Human Services Center, Efland Community Center, Rural <br /> Agricultural Education Center. <br /> - Bring forward the building of the Rural Agricultural Education Center.
