NON-DEPARTMENTAL AGENCIES Chapel Hill - 968-4501 <br /> NOT BEING REVIEWED BY HSAC Mebane - 227-2031 <br /> Durham - 688-7331 <br /> PURPOSE: To approve the responsibilities of Human Services Advisory <br /> Commission. <br /> BACKGROUND: On December 6, 1988, the Human Services Advisory Commission <br /> agreed to perform the following functions: <br /> 1 . Advisory review of non-departmental Human Services Agency <br /> budget requests. The format of budget review would focus on <br /> the following: <br /> a) Results being achieved by non-departmental agency <br /> b) Coordination of service delivery with other human service <br /> agencies, both public and private <br /> c) Clear delineation between continuation on expansion <br /> budget requests <br /> After review, HSAC will make recommendations to the County <br /> Manager. Attachments one lists non-departmental agencies to <br /> be reviewed by HSAC. <br /> 2. Initiate exploratory discussions on joint human services <br /> planning with the towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro and <br /> United Way. <br /> 3. Continue to administer the Governor's Volunteer Recognition <br /> program. <br /> • Additionally the HSAC will consider a work plan that may <br /> include other functions. <br /> Karen Metzguer, Chair Of the HSAC will be present to answer <br /> questions/offer comments. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : Approve HSAC responsibilities. <br />
