Kirk responded that the sign area includes <br /> the face of the sign but does not include the supporting <br /> framework. <br /> Commissioner Willhoit asked how these recommendations <br /> compare with ordinances regarding signs of Chapel Hill <br /> and Carrboro. Kirk responded that the comparison was <br /> made with surrounding counties but not towns. <br /> Commissioner Willhoit stated that he felt comparisons <br /> should be made with Chapel Hill and Carrboro. <br /> Mark Farrell, Meadowlands Associates, expressed support <br /> for the recommendations to the Sign Ordinance. He <br /> expressed concern with the 6' height requirement. He <br /> noted that the entrance sign that Meadowlands would like <br /> to utilize is 10' long and 6', 6" high and would have <br /> landscaping surrounding it. <br /> Sylvia Price, Economic Development Director, submitted <br /> comments from EDC regarding revisions to the Sign <br /> Ordinance (attachment to these minutes on page ) . <br /> Guido De Maere, attorney for Tecan (located in. <br /> Meadowlands) , expressed concern that there is no <br /> relation between the number of signs allowed and the <br /> amount of property frontage. He indicated this would <br /> not allow directional signs for delivery vehicles. <br /> Mark Farrell noted that there will probably be a number <br /> of businesses within Meadowlands which will have a need <br /> for a number of directional signs. <br /> Commissioner Marshall that the idea of the MTC for all <br /> counties was for uniformity along 1-40 through Wake <br /> County, Durham County and Orange County.
