20 <br /> Commissioner Burroughs said she agreed with Commissioner Jacobs, and she would <br /> not vote in favor of appointing an elected official to another board, whether a policy is created <br /> this evening or not. <br /> Commissioner Marcoplos said he would be uneasy about it, and he said these advisory <br /> boards give citizens a chance to engage with government and learn. He said the elected <br /> officials are already in that foray and do not need that same opportunity. He said more citizens <br /> need to be invited into the process. <br /> Commissioner McKee said the Board always has the option not to appoint someone. <br /> Chair Dorosin said such a policy has the quality of being directed at an individual, which <br /> makes him uncomfortable, and he would vote against this. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Price, seconded by Commissioner McKee to <br /> keep the policy as is, in which there is no formal prohibition if an elected official wanted to <br /> apply for one of the BOCC advisory boards. <br /> VOTE: Ayes, 4 (Chair Dorosin, Commissioner Price, Commissioner McKee, Commissioner <br /> Burroughs); Nays, 3 (Commissioner Jacobs, Commissioner Rich, Commissioner Marcoplos) <br /> 4.
