21 <br /> 1 <br /> 2 A motion was made by Commissioner Rich, seconded by Commissioner McKee to <br /> 3 appoint the following to the Chapel Hill Orange County Visitor's Bureau: <br /> 4 <br /> 5 Appointment to a first full term (Position #6) "NC High School Athletic Association" <br /> 6 position for Kayla Austin expiring 12/31/2019. <br /> 7 <br /> 8 Commissioner Marcoplos asked if the role of a "special representative" could be <br /> 9 defined. <br /> 10 Commissioner Rich said the Visitor's Bureau has specific targets for how many people <br /> 11 serve on the board from specific areas. She said the position that is open this evening is for a <br /> 12 specific role, and other positions will become available in the future. <br /> 13 Chair Dorosin said there has been a lot of discussion about these designated positions, <br /> 14 and their value. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 17 <br /> 18 c. Historic Preservation Commission —Appointment <br /> 19 The Board considered making an appointment to the Historic Preservation Commission. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 A motion was made by Commissioner McKee, seconded by Commissioner Jacobs to <br /> 22 appoint the following to the Historic Preservation Commission: <br /> 23 <br /> 24 Appointment to a first full term (Position #7) "At-Large" for Todd Dickinson expiring <br /> 25 03/31/2019. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 28 <br /> 29 Commissioner Jacobs said Mr. Dickinson's application refers to a book that he is writing <br /> 30 regarding Orange County architecture, and said this book has been in process for 25 years. He <br /> 31 asked the Manager if she could get an update on this project, and possible create a deadline <br /> 32 for its completion. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 d. Orange Unified Transportation Board —Appointment <br /> 35 The Board considered making an appointment to the Orange Unified Transportation <br /> 36 Board. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 A motion was made by Commissioner Price, seconded by Commissioner McKee to <br /> 39 appoint Jenn Sykes to a partial term to fill a vacancy (position #9) "At-Large" expiring <br /> 40 09/30/2017. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 43 <br /> 44 12. Board Comments <br /> 45 Commissioner Price had no comments <br /> 46 Commissioner Jacobs said there was a meeting to discuss the Durham Tech <br /> 47 scholarship fund, and some progress was made regarding a memorandum of understanding <br /> 48 between the Department of Social Services Director and Durham Tech to share more <br /> 49 information about whom they serve, so that those in need can be better connected to the <br />
