o Ensures that maintenance facility is clean and safe at all times, <br />o Performs other related duties as assigned. <br />KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION: <br />o Knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to solid waste management and <br />recycling operations. <br />o Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance procedures for a variety of vehicles <br />and equipment. <br />o Knowledge of department and safety rules and regulations. <br />o Knowledge of management and supervisory techniques, <br />o Knowledge of county and department policies and procedures. <br />o Knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping practices. <br />o Skill in planning and organizing work. <br />o Skill in welding and fabricating parts. <br />o Skill in maintaining and repairing a wide variety of vehicles and equipment, <br />o Skill in operating a computer, maintaining work order system and maintaining repair records <br />including labor, parts, contract repairs, warranty work, etc, <br />o Skill in using various hand and power tools and equipment. <br />o Skill in oral and written communication. <br />SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: The Solid Waste Operations Manager assigns work in terms of <br />very general instructions. Completed work is reviewed for compliance with instructions and <br />procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of results, <br />GUIDELINES: Guidelines include county ordinances, county and department policies and <br />procedures, relevant state and federal laws and regulations, and safety rules and regulations. <br />These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in <br />application. <br />COMPLEXITY: The work consists of difficult skilled work which consists of varied duties in the <br />maintenance and repair of department vehicles and heavy construction equipment in addition to <br />administrative, supervisory and management responsibilities, Equipment breakdown in the field <br />and inclement weather conditions contribute to the complexity of the work, <br />SCOPE AND EFFECT: The purpose of this position is to oversee the maintenance and repair <br />of department operations including conveyors, motors, pumps, vehicles and heavy construction
