23 <br />Position #39 Solid Waste Collector <br />Operate and maintain dual-stream rural curbside recycling collection vehicle, picking up <br />recyclables from households in unincorporated areas within Orange County. Inspect contents of <br />collected bins to ensure quality of collected materials, identify and remove contaminants. Sort <br />materials into compartments on truck, keeping paper separate from other containers. Maintain <br />accurate count of number of households serviced. Clean up any spilled or overflowing materials <br />in field. Deliver collected materials to recycling processing area at Orange County Landfill. <br />Deliver materials to market using roll-off trick as needed. Act as back up to all other solid waste <br />collectors. <br />Position #40 Solid Waste Collector <br />Acts as Recycling Divisions back-up driver to all other solid waste collectors. Must know routes <br />and be able to operate and maintain all recycling collection vehicles. Operate front-end <br />recycling truck to collect mixed paper in dumpsters and deliver collected materials to market. <br />Work on weekend servicing high usage 24 hour recycling drop-off sites and solid waste <br />convenience centers with front-end recycling truck and with roll-off truck. Clean up any spilled <br />or overflowing materials at serviced locations. Deliver collected materials to recycling <br />processing area at Orange County Landfill or direct to market as required. Deliver consolidated <br />loads of recyclable material to market from recycling processing area. <br />Position #32 Sanitation Supervisor <br />The Recycling Supervisor is a working supervisor who oversees day-to-day operations for the <br />Recycling Division with assistance, guidance, and supervision by the Recycling Programs <br />Supervisor and the Recycling Programs Manager. The Recycling Supervisor supervises five <br />Recycling Materials Handlers and seven Solid Waste Collector Drivers. This position counsels, <br />disciplines, and evaluates supervised personnel as to ,job performance issues, and performs Work <br />Performance and Pay Review's for assigned personnel. The Recycling Supervisor develops <br />daily work schedules for supervised personnel and assigns personnel to collection vehicles or <br />other daily duties as needed. Additionally, the Recycling Supervisor ensures that employees <br />operate in a safe and accident-free manner and that each employee receives required safety and <br />equipment operation training. This position supervises the daily collection of solid waste and <br />recyclable material from 24-hour recycling drop-off sites, solid waste convenience centers, <br />multifamily units, commercial bars and restaurants, and curbside recycling in the unincorporated <br />portions of the County, along with the processing of those materials handled at the recycling <br />processing area at the Orange County Landfill. He/she checks and ensures that all collection <br />routes are completed and serviced as scheduled. The Recycling Supervisor ensures proper <br />operation and maintenance of equipment and vehicles required to perform collection and <br />processing duties, and is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of recycling portions of the <br />solid waste convenience centers and the recycling drop-off centers. He/she supervises any <br />construction projects undertaken and performed by the Recycling Division. He/she assists with <br />the investigation complaints and takes appropriate action on resolving disputes. <br />The Recycling Supervisor is required to hold a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and to be <br />able to act as a back up for all employees supervised and to be able to operate all equipment <br />supervised.
