14 Duties of Class Landfill Inspector-Position This position is responsible for inspecting materials received in the landfill. Makes random inspections of selected vehicles coming into the landfill for improper or illegal waste.. Determines whether materials are permitted in the landfill. Rejects illegal materials and instructs customers on proper sorting and places for dumping. Contacts waste owners when denying access to the landfill. Explains the basis for turning waste away and requests the owner to sort through the refuse; removes unacceptable waste and disposes of it properly elsewhere. Explains landfill rules and regulations to customers. Oversees the spread of cover in respective areas of landfill and that slopes and drainage are appropriate. Monitors landfill site operations for safety and neatness. Prepares random inspection reports and files them in the inspection files for the State Operating Plan. Determines and recommends fines to assess for illegal dumping when discovered, Issues tickets for dumping illegal items. Photographs the evidence and identifies the pictures with any citations issued. Conducts necessary testing on landfill gas monitoring wells for oxygen, methane, and carbon dioxide and give the readings to the Landfill Engineer for operating records and assist in the testing of the water monitoring wells. Enforce landfill rules and regulations as necessary. Operates landfill equipment as necessary. All Inspectors must be capable of performing all landfill inspection duties. Position #12 Landfill Inspector This position's primary responsibility is to monitor the MSW side of the landfill. • Spots and inspects each load of MSW to insure compliance with our operation permit. • Assists with the placement and compaction of MSW as necessary. • Directs traffic and insures the safety of the tipping area.. • Coordinates with the operator on daily placement of materials and assist customers as needed. Position #13 Landfill Inspector This position's primary responsibility is to operate the Construction and Demolition landfill. • Spots and inspects each load of C&D to insure compliance with our operation permit. • Is in charge of the placement and compaction of C&D. • Directs traffic and insures the safety of the tipping area. • Coordinates with the ordinance area of the landfill on the need to separate materials and insure proper placement of these materials and to assist customers as needed. • Is in charge of the placement of weekly cover and cell construction. Position #14 Landfill Inspector This position's primary responsibility is to monitor the Construction and Demolition Ordinance area. • Is in charge of insuring the compliance of the RRMO Ordinance, • Oversees the removal of Freon from any such items that contain ozone-depleting gasses and insures the environmental compliance of this process. • Tracks and processes the necessary paperwork for these materials,
