In 2013, the <br /> agency added on the Parent/Teen Solutions program, a home visitation counseling program and <br /> group parent/teen educational classes that serves court involved youth and families funded by <br /> Alamance County's Juvenile Crime Prevention Council NC Department of Public Safety. In May <br /> of 2015, agency staff were trained in Safe Care, a home visitation service that provides parenting, <br /> safety, and health parent coaching to families with children 0-6. Safe Care is currently offered in <br /> the Parent Aide program for qualifying families. Finally, the agency added Respite services in <br /> 2015 to Alamance County residents to assist at-risk families with finding temporary short term <br /> child care during times of stress and crisis. <br /> d) Agency's Experience with Similar Programs as the Funding Request <br /> The Family Center has 19 years of experience in administering grant funds and providing <br /> successful child abuse prevention services in the community. All of the agency's programs are <br /> either offered in the home or as parenting classes on site or in the community. The agency has <br /> been offering Parent Aide services in Alamance County for 19 years, in Orange County for 10 <br /> years, and is expanding into Caswell County in 2016.The Family Center was a part of the original <br /> randomized trial clinical study that helped to achieve the program's evidence-based status. The <br /> Family Center is very familiar with the dynamics of child abuse and neglect,trauma, and working <br /> with at-risk and substantiated families. The agency has been involved in state wide and local <br /> initiatives on child abuse education and prevention. Due to the history of offering Parent Aide <br /> services in multiple communities, including Orange County families, the staff are experienced at <br /> service implementation and goal achievement. The agency is very familiar with the program <br /> goals and objectives,the target population, program evaluation, and data collection.The agency - <br /> has, and continues,to achieve higher outcomes on preventing abuse, increasing parenting skills, <br /> improving problem solving, increasing safety, and linking families to positive supports/community <br /> resources.The agency understands how to effectively work with families to put protective factors <br /> in place to prevent abuse and neglect from occurring or reoccurring. <br /> e) Other Pertinent Agency Information <br /> The Family Center has an Advisory Board which works in conjunction with the Board of Directors <br /> of Exchange/SCAN in order to manage the agency. The staff of the agency is versed in the <br /> complexity of child abuse prevention and has decades of experience in home visitation and <br /> parenting education. The agency also operates within a System of Care framework and <br /> collaborates on many levels with various community non-profits, for profits, social service <br /> agencies, and business.
