8.0 RECOMMENDED WATERSHED MANAGEMENT PLAN <br /> 8.1 INTRODUCTION <br /> This chapter presents the major management recommendations for Lake Michie <br /> and Little River watersheds. The recommendations cover nine major areas: <br /> o Water quality goal <br /> o Overall approach to nonpoint pollution management <br /> o Nonstructural controls <br /> o Structural BMP's <br /> o Wastewater disposal <br /> • <br /> o Institutional requirements <br /> o Financing requirements <br /> o Regulatory requirements <br /> o Ongoing watershed management program <br /> Benefits of the recommended watershed management plan are summarized in the <br /> final section of -this chapter. <br /> 8.2 WATER QUALITY GOAL, - <br /> Based upon .both quantitative and qualitative indicators, _the -existing water <br /> quality of Lake Michie appears quite satisfactory for water supply uses as. <br /> does the existing water quality projected for Little River Reservoir. <br /> Consequently, it is not necessary to specify a water quality goal-which - <br /> wouldfrequre an .improvement in water quality over existing conditions, <br /> based on the information at hand. <br /> Either the nonstructural approach or the structural BMP strategy (or <br /> combinations of the two) can sufficiently mitigate future nonpoint <br /> pollution impacts to ensure that water quality criteria are generally met. <br /> Insofar as projections of future water quality in both water supply <br /> 8-1 <br /> • <br />
