C. 27516
Ms. Chairman ( Orange County Planning Board)
Mr. Chairman ( Orange County Board of Commissioners)
Members of the Boards
I live across the road from Cane Creek Reservoir and my former home.
Even after OWASA, I still own some acres in the Cane Creek watershed;
some of these acres are in the CA --some acres are presently held hostage
in site 0C2 for the landfill search. These acres are in sight of the
reservoir.
OWASA representatives gave statements in public hearings, N.C. Courts,
and in "Environmental Impact Statements" that a reservoir would be con-
sistent and compatible with the community and no further restrictions
would be necessary --- apart from State and Federal clean water re-
strictions.
Before Cane Creek Reservoir, they. wanted the water because of its
quality --- even calling it "PRISTINE" ! When those studies were con-
ducted, there were six more operaring dairies with more than 2000 animals.
We property owners do not need more restrictive zoning to protect the
land and water --- a 200+ year record proves this.
The EMC's final "EIS" noted in its socio-economic impact the losses to
the community who do not benefit -- not allowed use of the water!
( A drink of water can only be gotten if we go into Carrboro or Chapel
Hill to shop or dine.) More restrictions would increase this loss:
